Svyaznoy Radio
In 2012, the retail trade network “Svyaznoy” got the idea to create a real radio and a coordinated broadcasting of video advertising within it. None of the solutions available on the indoor advertizing market could guarantee a professional quality of broadcasting, so “Svyaznoy” turned to the producers of technologies for traditional radio broadcasting. After a year of a fruitful collaboration, more than 1,500 stores of ‘Svyaznoy’ (in the near future there will be 3000) throughout the country broadcast radio and video program which is planned in a single center, based on the new technology of distributed network broadcasting Digispot ® II RDB.

None of the solutions available on the indoor advertizing market could guarantee a professional quality of broadcasting, so “Svyaznoy” turned to the producers of technologies for traditional radio broadcasting.
Project requirements for the “Svyaznoy Radio” were the following:
- to ensure audio and video broadcasting at several thousands stores throughout the country in the state of a low (sometimes as low as 16 kb/sec) network capacity of the Internet channels;
- to combine logically the radio and the video broadcasting provided priority of the radio broadcasting;
- to give the opportunity to create different schedules for different regions depending on time zone, opening time of the store and other factors;
- to enable stores grouping (in certain regions) for targeted advertizing campaigns;
- to give a professional instrument for media planning (advertizing planning);
- to have an option for monitoring of different broadcasting parameters throughout the network.
After a year of a fruitful collaboration, more than 1,500 stores of ‘Svyaznoy’ (in the near future there will be 3000) throughout the country broadcast radio and video program which is planned in a single center, based on the new technology of distributed network broadcasting Digispot ® II RDB.
The new Digispot ® II RDB is:
- An autonomous automated broadcasting, supervised from a single center;
- Practically unlimited number of end points (stores), the solution is easy scalable;
- Usage of different solution for balancing of the load between the servers (including NLB-cluster);
- Independence from the quality of communication channels;
- A high fault tolerance;
- Automated installation and update of the software;
- Minimal system requirements to the hardware at the broadcasting point (store).
